Help & FAQ
Using the Nachiketa app on your phone
Everything you need to install Nachiketa on your phone and keep learning — even when the internet is patchy.
What is the Nachiketa app, and why install it?
Nachiketa works as an app you can install straight from your browser — no Play Store or App Store needed. Once installed it opens full-screen like a normal app, starts faster, and lets you keep reading lessons even when your internet drops.
How do I install it on Android (Chrome)?
- Open Chrome and go to the Nachiketa website. Sign in as usual.
- Use the site normally — open a lesson or two. On your second visit, a small “Install” bar slides up at the bottom. Tap Install → Add.
- Didn’t see the bar? Tap the ⋮ (three dots) at the top-right of Chrome → Install app (or Add to Home screen) → Install.
- A Nachiketa icon now sits on your home screen. Open it from there — it runs full-screen, with no browser bars.
How do I install it on iPhone or iPad (Safari)?
iPhones don’t show an automatic prompt, so it’s a quick manual step (the app shows a hint reminding you):
- Open the site in Safari (it must be Safari on iPhone, not Chrome).
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen → Add.
- Open Nachiketa from the new home-screen icon.
Can I read lessons without internet?
Yes — lessons you have already opened stay available without internet:
- While you have internet, open the lessons you want for later (the concept pages under Learn). Just opening them saves them on your phone.
- Later, with no internet, open the app and go back to those lessons — they load straight from your phone.
- If you open a lesson you have never visited while offline, you’ll see a friendly “You’re offline” screen with a Try again button — reconnect and it loads.
Saving data? Open the week’s lessons once on Wi-Fi, then study them later on mobile data or with data off — they won’t download again.
What happens if my internet drops during a quiz?
You need internet to start a practice session (questions load live). But if your connection drops in the middle of a session, your work is safe:
- Keep answering. Your answer is graded instantly on your phone — you still see right or wrong and the solution. No blank screen, no waiting.
- A small pill appears: “1 answer syncing…” (the count grows if you answer more). It just means your answers are saved on the phone, waiting to upload.
- When your internet comes back, the answers upload automatically and your score updates. The pill disappears once everything is synced — you don’t have to do anything.
- Your progress is never lost or double-counted, even if you close the app before reconnecting — it syncs the next time you open it.
What still needs internet: moving on to brand-new questions (the app picks the next question from the server). So a drop won’t lose your current answer, but to keep getting fresh questions you’ll need to reconnect.
I don’t see the install option, or the app feels out of date
- Don’t see the install option? Visit the site twice, make sure you’re in Chrome (Android) or Safari (iPhone), and that you opened the real website — not a search-result preview.
- App feels out of date? Close it fully and reopen — it refreshes to the latest version on its own when you’re online.
How do I remove the app?
Long-press the home-screen icon → Uninstall / Remove. Your account and progress stay safe in the cloud, so you can reinstall any time without losing anything.
